I think Canada was traded for some failing sugar islands? I know France had to give up Canada after the French & Indian war, but I'm also 80% sure he got traded for sugar islands ( forgot which ), which was a big wtf move since people wondered what the heck was actually IN Canada. I'm of the opinion France was somewhat fond of Canada, but wasn't SUPER fond since fur wasn't a real big money maker after a while.

I guess like HK said, it depends on shipping prefs.
