HETALIA CHIPS: TASTES LIKE IMPERIALISM

Please don't kill me.

Since Mr. Cold War is hoping to get his chip out and Hetalia is absolute crack, I wanted to put up what I hope to do for an event/powers so the cast can have an input if they don't agree. I'm going partly by previous agreements (I can't find the original plotting post but this was the basic outcome) but I fully realize that much of the cast is newer and have more to say.

This is all just to maintain some basic level of consistency (BUT AGAIN. HETALIA. ANYTHING GOES.) But anyway.

POWERS:

Alright, we all know Hetalia is basically "WHATEVER IS FUNNY IS POSSIBLE", but there's so much fanon/actual "powers" that can be concluded from the comics (America's super strength, England's magic, Russia's resistance to dark magic, etc). These following points were discussed in the past and seem to be consistent within the cast, but just to be sure:

Immortality: ...to a degree. I've seen several others say that, in Hetalia-land, they can't die for realsies unless their culture is destroyed, land given away, etc. I would assume that some of the same basic things apply to Discedo.

However--and this is where your opinions count!--since none of the countries are connected to their people or land in Disc, I would imagine they'd be much harder to kill, but not impossible. Or, at the least, if a country were to "die", they'd be revived by the scientists before they'd naturally revive (again, this is all based on personal interpretations). THOUGHTS ARE APPRECIATED.

Fast Healing: If Russia can jump out of a plane and be back on the field in no time, England can recover from (seemingly) life-threatening wounds in three days, and America can break his leg and recover quickly, I think it's safe to say that these guys get over externally-inflicted wounds quickly. What I mean by "externally-inflicted" are wounds like getting shot, stabbed, burned, etc. as opposed to wounds they'd receive due to traumatic historical events or natural disasters, like China's scar from the Sino-Japanese war.

RANDOM BULLSHIT: America breaks the laws of time and space to use Google, Prussia breaks the 4th wall, and Russia eats directional arrows. I have no point to make other than it will get worse than puking bears. WELCOME TO HETALIA. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR RATIONALITY AT THE DOOR.

If there's anything else you guys want to add/contribute, let me know!

CHIP EVENT(ISH):
ALSO CALLED: THIS IS REALLY JUST AN EXCUSE TO HAVE FUN WITH HISTORY
Note: I talked to a mod about this and I think as long as I clear it with you guys, it'll be okay.

This won't affect anyone directly but America, though again, in case anyone is hellbent on something silly like consistency, I'll put this here in case anyone wants to do something similar if their character gets their chip out/if you have any other ideas.

SHORT VERSION: America will be re-experiencing history, both physically and mentally, in hyper speed throughout the "sick" week after chip removal as his body becomes accustomed to being a country again.

MEDIUM VERSION: I'm still totally in the planning process of this.

LONG VERSION: Once America has his chip removed, he'll start feeling lightheaded, extremely queasy, basic sick stuff. He'll still be in his typical 60s mindset by this point, complain, and lay down for a nap.

He's going to wake up slightly younger-looking with better eyesight jaundice. HELLO THERE YELLOW FEVER EPIDEMIC OF 1793. Or maybe I'll start at the end of the Revolutionary war I don't really know at this point.

Not that anyone cares but HERE ARE TIME PERIODS I'M HOPING TO HIT UP THROUGHOUT THE WEEK (or maybe a little longer since I doubt anyone wants me posting every day):
The War of 1812: /invades Canada's vital regions
American Civil War: the return of Sir Multi personality
American Imperialism: "AHHHH I LOVE THE SMELL OF SMALL PACIFIC ISLANDS IN THE MORNING"
World War I: so about them Devil Dogs
The Great Depression: according to O Brother Where Art Thou, people sing and reenact The Odyssey
World War II: oh hay Hetalia
The 1950s Red Scare: "YOU KNOW, JAIL ISN'T SO BAD. YOU SHOULD'VE SEEN SALEM. ALSO HAVE YOU READ THE CRUCIBLE?"
*some is subject to change because DAMN IT I WANT TO DO MANIFEST DESTINY TOO.

America will be behaving and appearing as though he's from these time periods. By that I mean, for example with the Civil War, he'll be torn apart, his body will be wrecked to hell, and worse. He'll also talk as though he's both the Union and the Confederacy and see perceive other countries from the context of his time period. Rinse and repeat with every time period.

SO WHY AM I POSTING ALL THIS HERE? Because I want to know if you guys are okay if I do this. As Parron said, this doesn't have to be the definitive chip event for other countries; we can chalk it all up to willpower, difference in countries and their history, time spent in Discedo, etc. Or we can bullshit it. Once again: this is all depending if you guys want rigid consistency or don't care. I'd like to note that I'm starting after America's independence because colonialism would a) be too much to do and b) kill everyone with the cuteness of Babbymerica. If anyone wants to do something similar, go ahead and start from whatever time period you like/feel comfortable with/what have you.

I FEEL LIKE I HAD MORE TO SAY BUT I'M GOING TO LET YOU GUYS SPEAK NOW. INPUT PLZ.

And for the record, America won't be getting his chip out until after whatever mod event is upcoming. This is just to plan in the mean time.

Well, Austria and Hungary got 'married', so I think in that situation, it counts. I guess it goes on a case by case basis. I consider the Sino-Russian alliance and the Anglo-Japanese alliance to be just specific friendships, too.

.....the second one I also view on a case by case, but that is because I am a horrible person. I think it depends on who or what is being taken over?

RUSSIA JUST REPELS DARK ENERGY FOREVER. Somehow it works.

Canada has called America, England, and France by their real names. I figure it's a 'family' thing.

you know what I'd probably do with that is like. AFTER EVERYTHING'S DONE and he makes this post like 'FUCK I THINK EVERYTHING'S BACK TO NORMAL'

and then just sparkles

everywhere

with a lot of cursing and communicator-throwing

Oh god Revolutionary War. If I end up reading your post for that day combined with the Sound World CD, I can almost promise you I'm going to cry all over my keyboard, fffff I KNOW RIGHT AHAHAHAHA america can be half high, half fucking pissed because HE'S NOT HIGH

WELL LIKE. DERPDERP I think they're more resilient than humans, obvs? Like, I'd be willing to bet they're pretty damn used to wars/shooting/pain/ectectect so it wouldn't phase them quite as much.

Like. Oh derp how do I describe this

OKAY SO PERSONAL HEADCANON TIME

basically, I kind of believe that countries even in Hetalia do "die", they just don't... stay dead, per se. Like, using Estonia as a refrence, after WW2 and being recaptured by Russia, a good 1/5th of the country ended up being sent to the Gulag in Siberia for shit like that. Basically, I'd bet Estonia did actually die- but his body was kept, and he revived, though for a certain amount of time there was no heartbeat and he wasn't breathing, ectect.

By Discedo rules, they do have to be succeptable to death, I suppose- I mean, what fun would it be if we couldn't kill people off? - and the human body is going to fail after a certain amount of damage is done to it (like England and the youma attack thing; I don't think he's going to keep on living with his head torn off and the limbs and whatnot). So I'm thinking that yeah, they'd be able to die like a person, but obvs because of Discedo they wouldn't stay dead-- though it wasn't like they hadn't died before.

I really hope that made some shred of sense I CAN CLARIFY A LITTLE BETTER IF YOU NEED IT

Well, I guess that's another point. Alliances = friendships? Or yes? Or no? Or sometimes? Are there any specific past alliances - I'm not asking you specifically - that = something, and others that = nothing? ahhh fandom why so vagueeee.

And yes, this is true. I don't think invasions are ever PLEASANT, but. IDK. Yeah. Like in Denmark's case, I just can't imagine the Dano-Swedish wars as being anything other than Denmark and Sweden punching one another. A lot. A lot.

DENMARK'S SUPER POWER: HIS LIVER HAS YET TO FAIL.

Also I think Denmark has called Sweden and Finland by their first names when he was pissed off at them, but has never used them at any other point. Ahahaha.

lololol yeah and Denmark is all about. Um. Janteloven. Ahahaha. CONFORM. FIT IN. YOU'RE NOT BETTER THAN ANYONE (but no one is better than you). YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL. So he probably sees himself as much less of an individual than America does/would this is really interesting let us continue talking about it. To him, he is very proudly and happily ALL "Denmark" and nothing else, and despite how much he does suck at NOT blurring the lines between Denmark and Self, he - hm, yeah. Doesn't tend to think ... of himself as an individual. So he feels kind of weird giving out his name; I think... he's told two or three really close CR. I think he's starting to be more - "self" in Discedo, but he thinks it's because of the chip, the "take away the connection and what's left."

TL;DRRRRR

AWRIGHT, HEADCANON TIME. ONE BY ONE:

Personal Unions: I think it was... kind of just that, personal unions. Like, the thing with Hetalia is this part is kind of a grey area. If the characters were actually intimate (see: Austria-Hungary; even in their history their countries worked pretty well together) then it might be marriage. On the other hand, it could be classified as "marriage" but done for economic reasons, not the country's own personal prefrence. (Or we could always just be like WELL THE BOSS MADE ME DO IT and leave it at that, if we're feeling lazy.)

INVASIONS: Again, this one. Kind of works like personal unions. People can kind of see it how they want, I guess? I'd really prefer not sex though because just, ergggg that's a little much for most of the people here, ect. I would assume wars=fighting, because my own personal headcanon says that probably, they'd be fighting with their wars/with their soldiers.

UNICORNS: EVERYONE HAS FOLKLORE I think that one's up to the player, because it's not really cannonly-stated except for the few characters you mentioned, so... yeah. Never especially thought about that one.

HUMAN NAMES: I think of it as a more intimate thing? That's kind of the way I've been using it, like human names are their cover for when they need to interact with regular people and not get stared at, but between countries it's kind of like... seeing them as a person as oppose to just a landmass. For me, I kind of see it like using a human name would be like recognizing that the person you're talking to is also a person, not just a country.

heeere's hoping that one made sense.

General headcanon discussion it's so beautiful

WELL UM OKAY

Personal unions: Case by case basis. Austria-Hungary is marriage because they decided it would be, Denmark and England was just "You're my little brother now! :D Deal with it!", and France and England keep nearly getting engaged because idk they're weird like that. I say all this partly because the Handover of Hong Kong to China is referred to as the Reunification in these parts and no one wants to marry China. No one.

Invasions: Oh, God no no war=rape. And in the strip where the vital regions thing came from, Prussia wasn't actually touching Austria anywhere indecent. It's just that Queen whatsherface thought it sounded like he was. So, I think mostly it's just war=fighting, except in the case of France. But that's France, and probably just a personal choice on his part.

Unicorns: I remember reading on the site somewhere that anyone (except America) who goes to England's house sees them. I've been going with Hong Kong not being able to see them because everyone else was saying stuff like that, but he's pretty spiritual himself so he probably has his own friends. Like tigers sent by Tin Hau to fight the Japanese during WW2. I saw the tiger skin, it's on display in the temple near my house. I have no idea where they go it, the woman who owns the temple doesn't speak English. I need to research Chinese mythology to see if there's anything Hong Kong should be seeing, but I go with "I can't see unicorns but I believe England when he says they're there because why not?" generally.

Human names: I have no idea. I generally go with "for ease of use", but I'm easy.

[identity profile] a-thousandyears.livejournal.com 2010-04-10 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
This mostly seems good to me, not sure how else we could play it and flashbacks are always fun. As far as immortality goes, what you said sounds good? And healing and yeah I generally agree with you.

[identity profile] ignoredbaltic.livejournal.com 2010-04-10 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
YESSSSS

I feel slightly shameless for saying I totally got it from that fanfic you sent me |D

Yeah, no, I get that entirely, but I'm pretty sure they've all died at least once... plus it really wouldn't be fair if Hetalia characters didn't have to apply by scientists death rules (because if their bodies were never collected, chips couldn't be put back in when they died, ectect. It'd just be unfair.)

aldoung fgd DON'T YOU EVEN ;A; icon for relevance, sob

You're my little brother now! :D Deal with it!"

sob yeah that's pretty much how it went. XD;;; "SWEDEN AND NORWAY FOUND LITTLE KIDS, SO I CHOOSE YOU, ENGLAND!"

And ahhh IDK maybe characters can like. See them when drunk. Or dead tired. I once - in a different game - played it where Denmark was stressed and half asleep and so could suddenly see Norway's trolls (and kind of freaked over it). Which also works, too, I guess ahhh. Then again, England being insane and everyone just being 8|;;;; is kind of hilarious I don't know.

Re: /shamelessly hijacks

[identity profile] a-thousandyears.livejournal.com 2010-04-10 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
And then everyone gets drunk in England's house and that's how they see them? And they go home all "I-it was just a hallucination, right? RIGHT?" and England's like "But you said you saw them they were really real ;o;!!!" and everyone else tries to forget it ever happened. I agree England being insane is always hilarious though.

JANTELOVEN:

1. Don't think that you are special.
2. Don't think that you are of the same standing as us.
3. Don't think that you are smarter than us.
4. Don't fancy yourself as being better than us.
5. Don't think that you know more than us.
6. Don't think that you are more important than us.
7. Don't think that you are good at anything.
8. Don't laugh at us.
9. Don't think that any one of us cares about you.
10. Don't think that you can teach us anything.

WHICH ISN'T QUITE AS MEAN AS IT SOUNDS, IT'S MORE LIKE A REMINDER TO LIKE. NOT GET FULL OF YOURSELF YOU AREN'T THAT GREAT, "US" TRIUMPHS "YOU", etc. The individual is not anything on the group, and Danish people are often said to feel awkward when they're NOT in the group, so while having individual thoughts and opinions and feelings is great, it's kind of like... yeah, "but, going along with the group is best." AND OF COURSE, Denmark is very, very old. And this was more Iceland's thing, but vikings actually DID hold Things (that's... the actual word it doesn't mean 'thing'), like, way back in the day, group discussions Iceland didn't even have a king or an elder or anything. So he's very old and very used to the idea that individuality and sticking it to the man is... kind of suspicious and American it would be so much better if we were happy little socialists.

Speaking of, occupations. Do the occupied nations live in the same house as the conqueror? I know Parron and Germany-mun were playing it that Denmark stayed in Copenhagen or wherever, but the definition of "house" and it's physical implications is... vague, sometimes. Like, would all of the Japanese Empire have stayed together during/prior to World War One? Or did Japan just make regular house visits? Same for the Soviet Union, I guess, and so on so forth.
