dude Denmark needs to bring this up with America some day because he's going to be all "what the fuck is wrong with you" because this is one belief that's unshakable in his mind. This is especially huge to him now with the whole BUCK THE SYSTEM, REVOLUTIONIZE THE WORLD, FUCK CONFORMITY the culture of the 60s. Partly this is due to him growing up basically alone with humans in this hugely vast land (because seriously the only countries in any sort of vicinity are Canada and Mexico), so he basically grew up around people who saw him as an individual, even if they knew he was the representation of their country.
So America getting his chip out isn't removing his identity and connections to him; if anything, it's reestablishing a part of himself that was lost.
