Ahahaha Janteloven is one of those "ugly truth" kind of deals. I know they do it in Norway, too; not sure about the other Nordics. But oh my gosh tell me more about this stuff, seriously.
And yeah, I admit, it's pretty hard to play that side, even though it's REALLY INTERESTING, just because I'm American and I'm used to the idea of - GOING IT ALONEEEE DON'T RELY ON THE GOVERNMENTTTTT and my family issues, and then Denmark is all THE GOVERNMENT WILL HANDLE EVERYTHING WE WILL ALL WORK TOGETHER FAMILY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FUCKING THING IN THE UNIVERSE etc etc etc I don't even know. But going back to topic - yeah, that's why, I think, he has more trouble with the whole "self" vs "nation" thing than America would; he believes in individualism only up until it clashes with the group.
