As Germany and Edgeworth have mentioned today, Oktoberfest (a German holiday) is happening, like, right now (in the real world, of course). Here's some info on it at Wikipedia, or...

"Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to early October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.

The Munich Oktoberfest, traditionally, takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October. In 1994, the schedule was modified in response to German reunification so that if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, then the festival will go on until October 3 (German Unity Day). Thus, the festival is now 17 days when the 1st Sunday is October 2 and 18 days when it is October 1. The festival is held on an area named the Theresienwiese (field, or meadow, of Therese), often called d’ Wiesn for short.

Visitors also eat huge amounts of traditional hearty fare such as Hendl (chicken), Schweinsbraten (roast pork), Haxn (pork knuckle),[citation needed] Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Würstl (sausages) along with Brezn (Pretzel), Knödel (potato or bread dumplings), Kasspatzn (cheese noodles), Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes), Sauerkraut or Blaukraut (red cabbage) along with such Bavarian delicacies as Obatzda (a fatty, spiced cheese-butter concoction), Rokeg (meat and blood baked into a pastry) and Weisswurst (a white sausage)."

So! I proposed this idea OOCly for a number of reasons. One, because it's fun to organize things in Discedo, two, who can say no to festivities and beer? and three, the in-character implications are that maybe we can come together a little bit. The survival of the human (or humanoid) spirit and all that. So, let's get down to business!

It'll have to be a little 'late' considering Germany's been ill and we've only recently been able to start getting this idea going, but here's the deal:

WHEN:

Preferably early October. Maybe starting from October 1st or 4th, at the latest. MORE POSTS WILL BE MADE AS THINGS ARE FORMATTED AND UPDATED.

WHERE:

No idea! Preferably a monster-free area; or an area that's not overrun by them, at least. I'm suggesting the high school since it'll be a fair-type deal and the German students can help out that way, but it depends on what's going on ICly.

WHAT TO BRING:

We need volunteers for food/decorations/things to do/etc.

WHAT TO DO:

Okay so we have the food, booze and other stuff covered. What will there be to do? Dances? Perhaps a German techno rave? Drinking contests? YOU DECIDE.

HOW:

Okay, this is tricky.

We NEED to figure out just how this will play out. There will be handwaved things, but will there be a certain entry? Maybe an action log in the log community en masse? How often will there be posts? How LONG will this festival last?
