chip event plotting
OH GOSH and here I almost forgot about this.
Time for a really bare-bones walk through French history! And by "walk" I mean "skipping across three time periods that stretch across about 1,900 years."
It's not a ridiculous event in the sense that we're not going to have dimensions ripping apart the fabric of time and space, butbodice-ripping historical and ... semi-educational shenanigans.
Open to anyone, obviously not just the Hetalia cast! It won't last long and will be primarily a lot of "what the fuck is going on with [France]" and the like. A rough outline of the event's... um, stuff, is under the cut.
Okay so I'm going to cut to the chase and there will be Wikipedia links and a few brief explanations. This involves me doing a bit of research on my own so if anyone knows more about these periods than I do, I sincerely apologize. For a history major I am quite unencyclopedic, BUT I DIGRESS. (also that's totally a word okok)
After that, well, he'll eventually make a post about returning to normal and that will be the official end of the event--depending on my time frame and work shifts and most importantly what's going on in-game, at some point around Halloween.
He's living in Latimir 103 and Rosemary (fem!England) will be looking after him, but you can already guess how well most of this is going to go. History doesn't have to be your thing to plot with me! I'll worry about the research--and this is Hetalia and also me, so there will be a few small liberties taken and it won't be perfect--this is just for fun, and also because French history is pretty awesome.
Feel free to plot with me/with anyone else in this post! /o/~

- Friday/Saturday 14th/15th-Tuesday 18th: We have the Gallic Empire. This breakaway Roman Gaul will be a child, appearing about the age of ... around 7 years old, give or take. Don't misunderstand though; by the timeline I've set up he is already at least several centuries old. An intense mixture of Celtic and Roman culture, this little one is pagan and he will only be able to speak Latin and Gaulish, a form of Celtic. He can be highly fierce and also a brat, but... largely a sweet child.
Wednesday 19th-Saturday 22nd: Fast-forward over a thousand years. You have the Kingdom of France. This is one hell of a monarchy. More info on France in the Middle Ages is here. In any case, this is France in the aftermath of the Hundred Years' War. It's actually a series of wars, confusing and like many other wars, a little stupid yet understandable. To help you out, Joan of Arc you might be familiar with.
The date is--well we're in the 1550's during Italian War aka Habsburg-Valois War and this empire is rolling forward. Francis now looks to be a teenager and he is very confident and intent on continuing to be one hell of a kingdom. Luckily for most, English has advanced enough that he will understand you--along with the early Italian, Spanish, French and Germanic languages of that period. But mostly French.
Sunday 23rd-Friday 28th: Some may be familiar with the French Revolution--not to be confused with other civil uprisings through the centuries, or the turbulence of the 1800's. To put it simply, I mean the one with the guillotine, Marie Antoinette, where heads were rolling. There is so much more to this pivotal time in French history though, such as political intrigue, a macabre series of events and the breaking of the cultural dam that led to the chaotic Reign of Terror.
Which is the France that you will see in the last proper leg of this event. It isn't a very happy leg. Uh. For a proper time period, the early months of 1794. He is a nation in transformation and rattled by cultural, civic and economic upheaval, torn between the mightily established old regime and the necessity and desire for change.
After that, well, he'll eventually make a post about returning to normal and that will be the official end of the event--depending on my time frame and work shifts and most importantly what's going on in-game, at some point around Halloween.

He will be voiced by Tom Hanks. THE PLUCKY YOUNG NORMAN WHOSE CLAIM THE THE THRONE WAS CLEARLY THE COURSE OF DESTINY AND HAROLD/HARALD (both voiced by Jeremy Irons) ARE THE PLOTTING CONSPIRATORS AGAINST THIS AMBITIOUS BUT NOBLE RULER. He must go on a journey with his entourage, building strength with montages of musical numbers to give a good moral lesson to children: even if you're not legitimate doesn't mean you don't have the heart of a king! Pope Alexander the II will be voiced by Robin Williams.
This is a flawless idea.
