What: Discedo Winter Festival 2010
When: December 23rd, afternoon until evening.
Where: Bonito Drive

I will be organizing the festival the same way I did for our first festival (haha this layout is totally copypasta'd), but of course, this won't be anything like the first festival. There won't be the Japanese traditions from Rika's canon, but I'm hoping this will be a mix of pretty much... everything and anything. I do not have predetermined activities for the festival this time around and I will be needing ideas from players.

Like the first festival, the event is taking place for one day. It may be difficult, but backtagging is definitely welcome and encouraged. Also IC circumstances have to be considered. It's taking place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, so they may not have the necessities to have the event take place for more than a day. It's also not necessary to know Rika to be able to participate in the event. Everyone is invited and while we do need volunteers to make the festival happen, having people to attend and enjoy the festival is also a must.

There may be supplies that are difficult to find in Discedo, but may I remind you that there is also the Scientist Request page that can be put to use!

This is also a chance to create new CR and strengthen it, so I highly encourage trying to tag someone you've never tagged before!

Okay! Hey Gang! Moony here, since I hadn't expected so many people to be interested in protecting the Hydro-Plant. I figured it would be a good idea to put some sort of organization together. Mainly to know whose going to be where and when.

Given the state of the facility and just who is working on it- the whole thing should be done by Christmas. Cube-mun if you need me to add anything just poke me ^^.

So- I need to know who is offering to volunteer to help Tails with the actual mechanics of the fixing. Now your character doesn't need to be a super genius to be helpful. Tails will be needed people to bring parts and to search through the broken machinery for salvage.

This, as I've mentioned, will take some time- and with the cold getting worse, all those monsters will be looking for shelter. So the workers will need a sort of Construction Watch Team while they're working on the plant. Your character can also volunteer for this as well. This will be slightly backdated to November 22nd, and I'll be putting up a log tonight or tomorrow that will stretch the length of the main work.

The Watch and Runners will be the more open positions, the engineers will have to have some sort of mechanical know how.

Answering the call for teachers for the academy, I imagine Discedo is full of folks who aren't versed in cooking and might be a little tired of eating their rations from the food bank straight from the can. SO! Clearly what we need is a cooking class.

Gaga's no chef, but he has quite a lot of experience in the kitchen. He obviously won't be teaching everyone how to make extravagant dinners due to lack of available ingredients, but he'll be showing them how to turn their base ingredients into more palatable things and how to get the most out of their rations. You will probably get a crash course in how to properly make measurements of things, recipe terminology, and making things like bread, soup, stew, chili, pie, and cake depending on what's available to work with.

Please bear in mind that, for now, this is going to be a BASIC cooking class, catering to people who burn water and who's greatest culinary accomplishment is assembling a sandwich. If your character already has a lot of experience in the kitchen, they probably won't be learning anything new here.

The products of the class can either be taken home by the students to feed themselves and their housemates, or can be donated to the soup kitchen to feed others so that nothing goes to waste (unless the dish in question has been so irreversibly burnt/ruined by a well-meaning novice cook that there's absolutely no saving it. In which case it will be mulched up and given to the barn as chicken feed...maybe in trade for some fresh ingredients to be used in the class demonstrations?).

I thought it might also be kind of fun to, maybe once in awhile have the students show off what they'd learned by setting up a small potluck of their dishes where denizens of Discedo could drop in and have a sampler plate of hot food and mingle with each other to maybe encourage new CR.

When: in the evenings on Monday, Wednesday, Friday (This is adjustable since I don't want to overlap other people's classes and prevent people from going who otherwise would)

You can attend as many or as few as you like. Makeup classes will be subject to the teacher's schedule and ingredients' availability.

Since Yorda left, and there have been no other takers, Youmu Konpaku has taken over responsibility for the greenhouse. It is located on the Mariner High School Rooftop and is a bit worse for wear nowadays; there are more damaged glass panels, though some have been repaired with glass that is not necessarily the same color, wood, or sheet metal. But none of the repairs have fallen down and killed anyone (yet), so it works.

The soil is actually fertile here instead of the nasty acid poison dirt endemic to most of Discedo, too.

So LATIMIR still has plumbing, but I'm assuming that the water isn't always as clean as you and I would like it to be. For, you know, drinking and bathing and such.

Yuuto, being the strange, strange man that he is, has decided that he will randomly clean the water for Latimir for brief periods of time. Of course, it is random, so he'll be picking random days to do so - such as tomorrow, November 4. If you live in Latimir, feel free to discover that all day tomorrow, the water from your taps is absolutely clean!

There's not much he can do about how gross the pipes might be, but hey. He can't do everything.

I've been meaning to make this post for ages, and, hey, now seems like a good enough time! There are a lot of new people here, so a general reminder is fun, and so is trying to figure out what's even in the barn. But first, some Discedo history for the class!

Back in the fall of '08, when Sorata first arrived in the city, food was a lot harder to find. Half jokingly, he asked the scientists for some livestock to help feed everyone: to everyone's surprise, they agreed. At first he kept the cow and chicken in the graveyard; eventually characters banded together and converted one of the warehouses (south of the bar in this map) into a barn for them and any other animals. People started keeping other animals there—horses, chocobos, and ghost cows—and then America ate them all during last winter's famine. Oops. The scientists usually provide feed for everything there but the chickens (since they eat anything); water has to be brought in from elsewhere.

Anyway, the barn still exists, as with some animals; it is currently Discedo's only source of milk/eggs/butter/etc. Sorata takes care of it with a devotion that comes out of being bored/having done pretty much nothing else on and off for two years; other people help/have helped in the past. It's an open location; anyone can post using it/the animals there/take goods/etc. Sorata tends to drop off the milk at the high school or bar (they have electricity/fridges), but everything there is open for any character to use.

So, anyway! Here's a list, as much as I can remember, of what is in the barn right now.

COWS:

TWO. Takoyaki, who has somehow survived from October 2008 through now (but no longer gives milk), and a newer cow that is yet nameless because I am pretty lazy. New cow provides milk; cows provide 6 gallons of milk a day.

CHICKENS:

TWO adult chickens, one male and one female, and... let's say five-six chicks. I believe Anemone also has a chick, who is probably about grown up by now and could possibly provide more eggs? Chickens lay one egg a day.

HORSES:

NONE. They all got eaten. :|

CHOCOBOS:

I HAVE NO IDEA. I think there were one or two nameless chocobos hanging around? Plus I know at least Norway and Marta have Chocobos of their own? I'm not sure how often they lay eggs, or genders...

OTHER ANIMALS:

None at this time. However, the scientists sometimes feel generous and answer requests, so...

If your character has an animal there (or wants an animal there), please comment! Also, if you wanna help poor Sorata with this stuff, that'd be super cool. ;w;! A- and seriously, guys, correct me, I have no idea what I missed (but I suspect it's "a lot.")

First off, here's the details!

► what: three logs; SETUP LOG IS 24TH OF SEPTEMBER. FESTIVAL LOGS ARE 3RD & 4TH OF OCTOBER. We're doing a two-parter for daytime and nighttime festivities.
► where: High school cafeteria/auditorium. If anyone has someone living in these areas, and would like to interject OOCly... yes we'd like to know.
► who's invited? EVERYONE. Spread the word ICly, bring your own food, etc. I need to talk with Nika (Germany) about who's sending out the official invite with the details ICly, but it'll be soon, pending plot stuff.
► what's going down: We'll have lots of food, musical guests, drinking/eating contests, dancing ~~and raving~~ at night. Due to being smart with supplies and such, it'll only last about a day and a night, but it's going to be one hell of a party.
Also we're having drunk football (soccer) either outside or in the gym. Really, one hell of a party.

HELLO DISCADIANS!

As Germany and Edgeworth have mentioned today, Oktoberfest (a German holiday) is happening, like, right now (in the real world, of course). Here's some info on it at Wikipedia, or...

So! I proposed this idea OOCly for a number of reasons. One, because it's fun to organize things in Discedo, two, who can say no to festivities and beer? and three, the in-character implications are that maybe we can come together a little bit. The survival of the human (or humanoid) spirit and all that. So, let's get down to business!

It'll have to be a little 'late' considering Germany's been ill and we've only recently been able to start getting this idea going, but here's the deal:

WHEN:

Preferably early October. Maybe starting from October 1st or 4th, at the latest. MORE POSTS WILL BE MADE AS THINGS ARE FORMATTED AND UPDATED.

WHERE:

No idea! Preferably a monster-free area; or an area that's not overrun by them, at least. I'm suggesting the high school since it'll be a fair-type deal and the German students can help out that way, but it depends on what's going on ICly.

WHAT TO BRING:

We need volunteers for food/decorations/things to do/etc.

PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER YOUR CHARACTER/CHARACTERS FOR SOMETHING.

Sort of ;3; Anyway! Stemming from this entry, a separate group will sneak down to the sewers to try and rescue the hostages (all, or if some have escaped by themselves, then they will help those who are still left there), possibly meet up with them, kick some ass, and re-join the game! This will go down in either way; if Knowlton does not betray the other group giving him the vaccine or if he will. Comment here if you want your character to be part of the rescue team! There have been some muns who've stated their interest in this, so just comment here again if you're one of them so it'll be an official thing, to be fair for those who haven't seen the post prior to this :D And since this group should be inconspicuous as possible, only 5-7 slots will be available!

Suuup, Discedo? Are we all enjoying endgame? 8D I'm not sure if this has been brought up ICly by any character, or OOCly by someone else, but just in case it hasn't yet, Gracia has hatched a plan in her head that she can't say directly onto the network because of Knowlton's sneaky frequency changing thingy. Yeah that. Lol so! Basically, she's thinking like a Saika and will propose to have a group talk with Knowlton, and in the event that he screws everyone over, there will be another group in the sewers ready to rescue the hostages!

FIRST, So, Edgeworth has an IC signup post here for anyone who wants to learn German.

Now, I'm all for handwaving since I know things can get pretty busy, but if things get going decently, I'd love to do some plotting. Because German things are quite awesome.

SECOND, Discedo census. This sort of involves... well, all of Discedo, and also notably the countries since they have their territories. Discuss here?

BUT! There are other important things in this post too, such as Edgeworth's bringing up hoarding supplies before winter. I'm also up for plotting with this.
